IOMC toolbox for decision-making in chemicals management
The IOMC is developing an internet-based problem-solving "Toolbox" that will help countries determine how best to address national problems or objectives in chemicals management. The toolbox will be a problem-solving tool, designed to lead users through a step-by-step process to identify appropriate actions for specific situations. It will also point users to relevant IOMC guidance and information for different situations. The toolbox will take into account all material developed in the IOMC Participating Organisations, focusing especially on cost-effective solutions to chemicals management issues.
A proof-of-concept version of the toolbox is scheduled for completion in June 2012. It will be demonstrated at the third International Conference on Chemicals Management (Nairobi, September 2012), where participants will have the opportunity to try it out. Soon after, it will be available via the IOMC web site.
