E03 Refrigerators and freezers for storing vaccines and freezing water-packs

Note: the PIS 2000 catalogue (and new items added to the PIS since publication of the 2000 edition) has been definitely abolished for this E003 category on 1 October 2010. The full revision of performance specifications and verification protocols has been achieved and endorsed by the steering committee at that date. • Prequalified equipment

All new applications for prequalification of refrigerators and freezers for storing vaccines and freezing water-packs must follow PQS procedures as described in the Guideline for manufacturers of vaccine refrigerators, vaccine freezers and icepack freezers (WHO/PQS/E03/GUIDE.1.3) and Guideline for manufacturers of solar power systems (WHO/PQS/E03/GUIDE.2.3). All items prequalified 4 months prior to the review date will be subjected to the 2011 annual review. The first version of the performance specifications and verification protocols for E03 category refrigerators and freezers for storing vaccines and freezing water-packs were approved by the PQS Steering Group on 14 September 2007. The transitional period to have PIS products for submission of prequalification was set as 31 March 2009. However, because of the extensive review process of performance specifications and verification protocols, this period had been extended to 1 October 2010.
