Adverse events following immunization - WHO activities
Assessments and technical support
As at June 2003, 47 countries had been documented through National Regulatory Authority assessments as having a surveillance system for adverse events following immunization (AEFIs).
Countries that have benefited during the last two years from significant technical support from WHO for planning and implementing an AEFI surveillance system have included China, Egypt, Indonesia, India, Iran, Senegal, Tunisia and Viet Nam. In addition, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea and Senegal have received support for AEFI activities specific to campaign settings.
