Research4Life Master Trainer Workshops
13 December 2012 - Two Research4Life Master Trainer workshops were conducted in Kathmandu, Nepal (28 September) and Hanoi, Vietnam (24 October). The objective of this training is to develop a group of individuals in Asia that can conduct R4L workshops in their respective countries and the region. This parallels the type of training conducted in sub-Saharan Africa by the Information, Training and Outreach Centre for Africa (ITOCA).
The training focused on the similarities of the HINARI, AGORA, OARE and ARDI websites (access from a journals collection and book collection A-Z list or by subject, language or publisher). It also detailed the differences of these programs’ databases and search engines (PubMed for HINARI, CAB Abstracts and Scopus for AGORA and Environmental Issues and Policy Index, Environmental Science, Pollution and Management Index and Scopus for OARE). The training material options for all the programs were reviewed. The workshop concluded with the participants developing programs for various workshop scenarios.
A total of eight individuals have obtained R4L Master Trainer certificates issued by the United States. Medical Library Association . We expect that they will be able to use the skills in R4L workshops that will be scheduled in the future.
