HINARI and Research4Life programmes launch new portals

In mid-July, HINARI launched its new portal. The website now is available in six languages including Arabic and Russian. New portals also were launched for AGORA and OARE.

This new interface simplifies access to journals, books, subjects, languages, publishers, PubMed and the various databases and article searching options and reference sources. After logging in and opening one of the key access points, users will see the default ‘Accessible Content’ list. A second option is the ‘All Items’ list that contains what is accessible and what is not for each institution. Note that the Partner Publishers Services drop down menu option has been eliminated.

Another significant feature to be mentioned is the current availability to export the complete list of HINARI Journals. This is possible from the option ‘View complete list of journals’, and select ‘All Items’ tab. This is particularly useful for those institutions using Discovery Tools.

Also of interest is a significant change to the HINARI/PubMed database. The Limits option has been replaced by a series of Filters that, once search results are displayed, are accessible from a left-column listing.

All the relevant training material has been updated. Key modules are #2 (HINARI Website Interface) and #4.2 (PubMed Using Filters…). Note that a link to the training material is on the new interface’s horizontal bar.

For those involved in Research4Life training, there is a new training module titled ‘Research4Life Programmes Comparison’. It is an overview of HINARI, AGORA and OARE. The three websites have similar key access points with the significant differences being the databases that are searched to identify articles.
