Health facility assessment

  • Service Availability and Readiness Assessment (SARA)
    A health facility assessment tool developed to assist countries to assess and monitor service availability and readiness of the heath sector and to generate evidence to support the planning and managing of a health system.

  • Civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS)
    Tools, standards and publications to support countries in developing and understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of their civil registration and vital statistics system with a focus on births, deaths and causes of death.

Household surveys

  • World Health Survey
    WHO developed and implemented the 2002/2004 World Health Survey to compile comprehensive baseline information on the health of populations and on the outcomes associated with the investment in health systems and baseline evidence on the way health systems are currently functioning in 70 countries.
  • WHO Study on Global Ageing and Adult Health (SAGE)
    SAGE is a longitudinal study collecting household and individual level data on adults in six countries, as well as committed to actively collaborating on additional data collection efforts, and secondary analyses and comparisons.
