Comparative quantification of health risks for the year 2000
Along with the 2001-2002 Global Burden of Disease update, the WHO also carried out a more extensive analysis of the mortality and burden of disease attributable to 26 global risk factors using a consistent analytic framework known as Comparative Risk Factor assessment (CRA). Results for the year 2000 were published in The world health report 2002 and for 2001 in the Global burden of disease and risk factors publication. Detailed results for 2000 were also released in 2004 along with the Comparative quantification of health risks book describing data and methods for the 26 risk factors in detail.
Detailed estimates for the year 2000 for each risk factor are available for download as Excel files, as are the annex tables included in The world health report 2002. These results are available for the 14 subregions of the WHO regions.

The Global burden of disease and risk factors study described the amount of disease, disability and death in the world in 2001 that could be attributed to a selected number of the most important risks to human health. It also showed how much this burden could be lowered in the next 20 years if the same risk factors were reduced.

The 2002 report described the amount of disease, disability and death in the world in 2000 that could be attributed to a selected number of the most important risks to human health.
