Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, WHO Goodwill Ambassador
The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (VPO) is one of the finest orchestras in the world. It was selected as a WHO Goodwill Ambassador and has dedicated performances to the work of the Organization. The VPO performed three times for the Organization - a special concert on 29 September 2008, in Geneva, Switzerland to mark WHO's 60th anniversary, in 2005, they played at the opening of the World Health Assembly and in 2006 the orchestra played a tribute to the late Dr Jong-wook LEE, former Director General of WHO, at his funeral.
