UNFCCC Nairobi work program and WHO action pledge

WHO is committed to engage actively in the United Nations Framework on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Nairobi Work Programme (NWP) on Impacts, Vulnerability and Adaptation to climate change, in order to ensure its relevance to the health sector, and to keep Member States informed about the work programme in order to facilitate their participation in it as appropriate and access to the benefits of its outputs.

The Nairobi work programme (2005-2010) aims to assist all Parties, in particular developing countries, to improve their understanding and assessment of impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change; and make informed decisions on practical adaptation actions and measures to respond to climate change on a sound scientific, technical and socio-economic basis, taking into account current and future climate change and variability.

WHO participates in the UNFCCC by providing technical input to the SBSTA meetings and through the WHO Action Pledge.
