Types of membership

A Global Foodborne Infections Network general-member is involved in the surveillance of foodborne and other enteric infections, serotyping or antimicrobial susceptibility testing.

A Global Foodborne Infections Network institution-member is a laboratory or institution that provides Salmonella serotyping data; these institutions will usually be national or regional Salmonella reference laboratories.

Within each institution-member is a Global Foodborne Infections Network institution representative who is responsible for providing the Global Foodborne Infections Network with a description of laboratory activities and annual Salmonella summary data.

Although the scope of the Global Foodborne Infections Network includes many foodborne pathogens, we are currently only collecting data on Salmonella.
