Partners and coordination of the network
GFN is a collaborative project of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Danish National Food Institute (DTU Food), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Institut Pasteur, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), Utrecht University (UU), European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), OzFoodNet, PulseNet International (PNI) and the National Institute of Public Health, Japan. A Steering Committee responsible for the coordination and implementation of the activities is in place. Steering Committee meetings are held annually. The purpose of these meetings is to review Global Foodborne Infections Network accomplishments and to discuss the strategic plan for the future.
In monthly telephone conferences current GFN issues such as recent and upcoming training courses, trainers, meetings and publications are discussed and decisions regarding them are made.

GFN regional centres
One of the priorities of Global Foodborne Infections Network is to establish Regional Centres that will lead the GFN activities of their region. These centres are for characterization and monitoring of foodborne pathogens and their antimicrobial resistance and for integrated foodborne disease surveillance.
