Disease classification and coding systems
OMIM: Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man
OMIM is a catalog of human genes and genetic disorders containing textual information, pictures, and reference information.
ICD 10: International Statistical Classification of Disease and Related Health Problems
ICD 10 is the latest in the series formulated in 1893 as the Bertillon Classifcation or International list of Causes of Death. The first volume, which runs well over 1,000 pages, contains the classification at the three- and four-character levels, the classification of the morphology of neoplasms, special tabulation lists for mortality and morbidity, definitions, and the nomenclature regulations. The volume also reproduces the report of the International Conference for the Tenth Revision, which indicates the many complex considerations behind the revisions.
