Bisphenol A

In November 2010, FAO and WHO held an expert meeting and a stakeholder meeting to review the toxicological and health aspects of Bisphenol A. FERG 4: Preparing ground for countries

During its fourth formal meeting from 8-12 November 2010, members and advisers of the WHO Foodborne Disease Burden Epidemiology Reference Group (FERG) appraised the progress achieved over the past 12 months as well as prepared the ground for the pilot country burden of disease studies set for early 2011. FERG Stakeholder Meeting 2010

Stakeholders, experts and members of the WHO Secretariat gathered for the fourth annual Stakeholder Meeting in Geneva on 11 November 2010 to hear about the progress of the FERG in the past year and get a glimpse into prospects for the future. Director of the WHO Department of Food Safety and Zoonoses

Dr Maged Younes was appointed from 1 November 2010 as Director of the Department of Food Safety and Zoonoses (FOS). He joined WHO in 1991 and held various key roles both at the WHO European Centre for Environment and Health and at WHO Headquarters in particular in chemical environmental safety. He has been actively involved establishing linkages between science and public health policies and was the Director of WHO Governing Bodies before joining FOS. Dr Younes is from Germany.
