Applications for Codex Trust Fund support for 2011

Call for expression of interest to conduct foodborne disease burden studies

The World Health Organization with its Foodborne Disease Burden Epidemiology Reference Group (FERG) will be overseeing the conducting of national foodborne disease burden studies. Countries interested in hosting such studies are requested to respond to a call for expressions of interest on the WHO website before 1 November 2010: http://www.who.int/foodsafety/foodborne_disease/ferg_country_studies/en/.

Calls for data for Joint Expert Committees on Food Additives (JECFA)

The call for data for the 74th JECFA meeting, to be held in Rome, 14-23 June 2011, is accessible at: http://www.who.int/ipcs/food/jecfa/data/en. Relevant information regarding the food additives scheduled for evaluation or re-evaluation should be submitted to the JECFA secretariat before 1 December 2010.

New publications available on the web

FAO and WHO recently achieved the revision of Environmental Health Criteria for principles and methods for the risk assessment of chemicals in food. The document "EHC 240" is available on the web: http://www.who.int/ipcs/food/principles/en. Each chapter corresponds to a step of the risk assessment process (e.g. chapter 6, dietary exposure assessment) and can be downloaded separately.

FERG Stakeholder Meeting - 11 November 2010

On the occasion of the FERG 4 meeting, the FERG Stakeholder Meeting will be held on 11 November 2010 at WHO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. This year, more detailed burden of disease results will be made available to the stakeholder community and the concept of the forthcoming country burden of disease studies will be presented and discussed in interactive workshops.
