The measles virus is extremely infectious and can cause severe illness and death. Cases of measles have decreased dramatically in Nepal since the first measles campaign in 2004, but the virus still threatens children. Nepal aims to eliminate measles by 2016 through campaigns and improvements to routine immunization.
