Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products - Signing ceremony

A ceremony to mark the opening for signature of the Protocol to Eliminate Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products will be held on 10 January 2013 at WHO Headquarters. The ceremony will take place from 10:30 to 12:30, in the Executive Board room.

The event is being organized jointly with the Treaty Section, Office of the Legal Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat. All Parties to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) have been invited to participate, along with the representatives of relevant intergovernmental organizations.

The Protocol was adopted by the Conference of the Parties at its fifth session on 12 November 2012, in Seoul, Republic of Korea. It will be open for signature by all Parties to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control on 10–11 January 2013 at WHO Headquarters, and thereafter at the United Nations Headquarters in New York until 9 January 2014.
