Ukraine - New requirements for pictorial warnings
April 2011 -
Ukraine has finalized requirements for pictorial warnings following the publication of a Decree on 4 April 2011 in the Official Journal of Ukraine.
A series of 10 warnings, taken from the European Commission library, have been chosen. Ukraine currently has written warnings covering 30% of the front and back of packaging. Under the new requirements, the pictorial warning will appear on 50% of the back of packaging, while a written warning (“Smoking kills”) will appear on 50% of the front. The warnings will be required at the manufacturer/importer level on 4 October 2012, 18 months after publication of the Decree.
