Workshop and training for Parties in the Western Pacific Region/ASEAN

SEPTEMBER 2011 - A workshop on implementation of Article 5 of the WHO FCTC was held in Bangkok on 7–8 September 2011, organized by the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific. Participants from Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore and Viet Nam exchanged country experiences, including achievements and challenges in preventing tobacco industry interference in public health policies relating to tobacco control.

Before the workshop began, the Convention Secretariat provided training to participants on reporting under the WHO FCTC. The training covered the new cycle of reporting, use of the questionnaire, and the current practice of exchanging information among the Parties.
