World No Tobacco Day 2012
WHO has selected “tobacco industry interference” as the theme of this year's World No Tobacco Day (31 May). The campaign will focus on the need to raise awareness of and counter the tobacco industry’s attempts to undermine the WHO FCTC.

Agreement reached on a draft protocol to eliminate illicit trade in tobacco products
After four years of negotiations, on 4 April the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body agreed on a draft text for a Protocol to eliminate illicit trade in tobacco products. The text will be submitted to the fifth session of the Conference of the Parties (12-17 November 2012, Seoul, Republic of Korea) for consideration and adoption. Once adopted, it would become the first Protocol to the WHO FCTC.
