Second session of the Conference of the Parties to the WHO FCTC

At its second session, held from 30 June to 6 July 2007 in Bangkok, Thailand, the 146 Parties comprising the Conference of the Parties to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) made important strides forward in the efforts to control tobacco use globally.

The second session of the Conference of the Parties adopted the guidelines on Article 8 on protection from exposure to tobacco smoke and decided to initiate or continue the work on 5 other guidelines on different articles of the Convention. The Conference also decided among others to establish an Intergovernmental Negotiating Body on a Protocol on Illicit Trade in Tobacco Products.
