  • A study on ‘Situation of infection from HIV/AIDS in Rural Areas of Rajasthan’ with support from HIVOS, the Netherlands in 2006-2007.
  • Training provided to 60 representatives of NGOs from 5 states of India in Jaipur on reproductive and sexual health and rights on December 27-29, 2006 with support from Youth Incentives, the Netherlands.
  • Reducing the risk of HIV infection among the tribal women with support from the Mercury Phoenix Trust, U. K. in 2003-2006.
  • Prevention of STDs and HIV/AIDS and improving the quality of life of tribal sex workers supported by Mac Arthur Foundation in 2001-2004.
  • Preventing infection with HIV and other STDs among the rural/tribal youth with support from World AIDS Foundation, France in 2001-2004.
  • A study on ‘An Equitable health system for Rajnat and Kanzer tribes in district Tonk of Rajasthan State in India’ with support from the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research (WHO), in 2001-2002. The project was aimed at studying the existing system and recommending an equitable health system for them.
  • Providing the tribal populations with medical and health care facilities for STDs/RTIs with support from the Elizabeth Taylor – this should be Glazer?- AIDS Foundation, USA. In 1999-2001.

Recent Events

Reducing the risk of HIV/AIDS
A project is being implemented by GBS for ‘Reducing the risk of HIV/AIDS among the migrating youth in rural areas in India,’ with support from The Mercury Phoenix Trust, UK. The project is aimed at raising awareness and education and voluntary counseling and testing for HIV/AIDS and other STDs among rural youth migrating to metro cities in India and abroad in search of jobs, leaving spouses behind in rural villages.

National workshop on mothers and children’s health
A workshop of NGOs was organized by GBS on maternal and child health in Katihar (Bihar) on October 21-22, 2010. Fifty representatives of NGOs/CBOs and women and youth organization from 14 states of India participated in the workshop. Issues related to maternal mortality, infant mortality, complications during pregnancy, institution-based deliveries, breast feeding, Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV/AIDS etc. were discussed broadly in the workshop, with outcomes be recommended to the Ministries of related State Governments and other local NGOs/CBOs engaged in the health issues concerning mothers and infants.
