June 2013 -- This guideline provides global, evidence-informed recommendations on the use of calcium supplements as a public health intervention to improve pregnancy outcomes. Calcium supplementation has the potential to reduce adverse gestational outcomes, in particular, by decreasing the risk of developing hypertensive disorders during pregnancy.
