Working in teams with the necessary supplies is essential for midwives

Midwives may have differing roles in different countries, the important issue is that they have the right skills. Midwives work in teams with obstetricians, anesthetists and paediatricians. In order for midwives to provide high quality care they need adequate infrastructure, drugs and supplies, water and sanitation, communications, and a functioning referral system if complications arise during childbirth.
